What Is Hair Shedding?
It is completely normal to shed around 100 hairs per day. You may notice them shedding when you brush or wash your hair. There are different stages in the growth cycle of the hairs on your head with around 85-95% being in the active growing stage, known as the anagen phase. The rest of the 10-15% of the hairs are in the resting stage, called the telogen phase. Typically, hair remains in the growing phase for around 2-4 years. Then, the hair enters into the resting phase for around 2-4 months. Finally, at the end of the hair growth cycle, the hair will naturally shed to allow new hair growth to come through.
What Is Hair Breakage?
Most of us will experience some sort of hair breakage due to the natural wear and tear of life! Breakage and unwanted split ends happen due to our everyday activities such as touching, sleeping and styling the hair. Environmental factors such as the sun, wind and water can also play a part in hair breakage. Central heating can dry your hair out, disrupt the structure of your hair and cause frizz and unsightly split ends. The best way to deal with split ends to ensure healthy looking hair is to book in for a regular trim at Hertford Hair Salon in Hertford.
Excessive use of heated styling tools such as curling tongs, straighteners and hair dryers are among the most common factors that can lead to unnecessary breakage. Excessive hair breakage can result in sparse areas around the scalp and frizzy looking hair.
